Conocle is built local-first, which makes this policy unusually short and unusually true.
What the app collects
Nothing. Your library (images, boards, collections, tags, search history) lives entirely on your Mac. The Conocle app has no accounts, no analytics, and no telemetry. We cannot see what you save or search.
When the app talks to the internet
- Fetching content you ask for: when you save a link, the app downloads that page or file for you.
- Checking for updates: at launch, the app asks our release server whether a newer version exists. This request carries no personal information.
- The weekly beta question: during the beta, the app fetches the current question from conocle.com the same way it checks for updates, and no personal information travels. If you type an answer and press Send, that answer (and an email address only if you chose to leave one) is emailed to us. Nothing is ever sent without you pressing Send, and the question can be switched off in Settings.
- The beta pass: after 30 days the app asks once for an email address, to keep Conocle free during the beta. If you type one, it goes to conocle.com, which emails you a 6-digit code through our email provider. When you type the code back, your address joins our founders list with the date. We send you other email only if you tick the box for founder updates.
What the website collects
The site counts visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies and does not follow you across other sites. We see only totals, such as page views, referrers, country, browser and device.
If you join our email list, we store the address you give us with our email provider, and use it only to send you the download link and Conocle news. Every email includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately. We never sell or share the list.
Your rights
Email us and we will delete your address from the list, confirm what we hold about you (which is: your email address, if you gave it), or answer anything else. There is nothing more to request, because nothing more exists.
